Gloss Black Painted Aluminum Sheet Coil

Glossy black has become a popular color in high-end architecture and industrial design in recent years. Its mirror-like high-gloss texture combines depth and futuristic appeal, making it widely used in curtain walls, commercial signage, and high-end appliance casings. However, gloss black aluminum sheets are recognized in the industry as a high-difficulty product category – the high-gloss surface amplifies substrate imperfections and coating defects. Ordinary processes easily result in orange peel, pinholes, dark spots, and loss of gloss/haze, leading to low yield and poor batch stability. BCM glossy black aluminum coils, through specialized process optimization, achieve a balance between high mirror finish and long-term stability across the entire process, from substrate pretreatment and paint formulation to coating environment control. This makes it a reliable choice for high-end dark high-gloss aluminum materials.

From industry experience, the core challenge of glossy black coating lies in achieving "mirror-level uniformity." Even micron-level substrate particles and paint mist impurities will form visible dark spots under high gloss, directly lowering the quality of the finished product. BCM Aluminum employ a three-stage precision pretreatment process. First, alkaline washing removes surface rolling oil and natural oxide layers. Next, chemical polishing improves the microscopic smoothness of the board surface. Finally, a dense passivation conversion film is formed, eliminating the root cause of defects from the substrate level. The entire coating process is completed in a Class 10,000 cleanroom, using a high-leveling, glossy black polyester coating. A double-coat, double-bake process precisely controls the baking curve, ensuring a stable dry film thickness of 25–30 μm for the topcoat, guaranteeing sufficient leveling and eliminating orange peel, runs, and pinholes. The finished product maintains a stable gloss level of 85–90 degrees at 60°, with a uniform and transparent mirror reflection, a rich and deep black color, and no haziness or graying.

The gloss black aluminum sheet comes standard with three alloy systems: AA3003-H14, AA3105-H14, and AA5052-H32, covering different strength and corrosion requirements. Standard thicknesses range from 0.3mm to 1.2mm, with support for customized width precision cutting. Dimensional tolerances conform to ASTM B209 standards. The board surface undergoes multi-roller precision leveling, achieving a flatness of ≤0.3mm/m, free of waves and roller marks, providing a smooth substrate for high-gloss coatings. Coating adhesion reaches ASTM D3359 4B level, ensuring the paint film does not crack or peel after bending and stamping, perfectly adapting to various deep-processing techniques. The color code conforms to the RAL9005 high-gloss black standard, employing a fully automated closed-loop color matching system. Color difference ΔE ≤1.0 within the same batch and ΔE ≤1.5 across batches, ensuring no color difference defects in large-area applications.

Addressing the light-absorbing and heat-absorbing properties of glossy black, and its tendency to age and lose gloss, the coating formula includes a high content of UV absorbers and free radical scavengers, effectively inhibiting coating degradation under high temperature and strong light. After 1000 hours of accelerated aging testing under xenon lamps, the color difference ΔE is ≤3.0, and the gloss retention rate is ≥82%. Under normal outdoor conditions, it can maintain a high-gloss effect for 8–10 years. The high-end PVDF gloss black aluminium sheet has a weather-resistant lifespan of over 15 years, suitable for harsh outdoor environments such as coastal areas and high altitudes. Simultaneously, it showed no blistering or rust in a 1000-hour neutral salt spray test, a pencil hardness of 2H, and excellent abrasion resistance, making it resistant to scratches during daily cleaning.

Gloss black painted aluminum sheet coils are widely used in building curtain walls, high-end store signs, metal roofs, industrial equipment housings, and high-end home appliance panels. The mirror-like texture significantly enhances the visual appeal of products. From an engineering selection perspective, gloss black is more suitable for facade decoration and high-end indoor and outdoor display scenarios. If used in low-lying, dusty areas, regular cleaning and maintenance are recommended to maintain the mirror effect for a long time. In highly corrosive coastal areas, 5052 aluminum sheet with a PVDF coating is preferred to maximize service life.

Compared to regular matte black aluminum sheet products, glossy black aluminum sheet, while requiring more sophisticated processing, offers a significant boost in visual quality and brand premium, making it the preferred material for creating a differentiated visual effect in high-end projects.
