3003 black painted aluminum sheet is a dark-finished aluminum product widely used in construction and industrial sectors. Based on an AA3003 aluminum-manganese alloy, the surface is covered with a uniform, dense black protective coating. 3003 black aluminum sheet combines the corrosion resistance and lightweight nature of aluminum with the sophisticated, understated aesthetic of a black finish, making it ideal for applications such as exterior wall cladding, roof gutters, outdoor signage, and enclosures for industrial equipment. As a professional supplier of painted aluminum coils, BCM Aluminum employs a standardized, end-to-end production and quality control system. We offer products in both cut-to-size sheets and coils, catering to the diverse processing and procurement requirements of clients worldwide.

The substrate consists of an AA3003-H14 aluminum-manganese alloy with a manganese content of 1.0%–1.5%. The material meets ASTM B209 standards, featuring a tensile strength of 140–180 MPa and a yield strength of ≥115 MPa. It offers an ideal balance of structural strength and excellent cold-working plasticity, making it suitable for various forming processes, including bending, stamping, and roll forming. We offer standard thicknesses ranging from 0.4 mm to 3.0 mm, with common sheet dimensions including 1220×2440 mm and 1500×3000 mm; custom sizing is also available upon request. The sheets undergo precision multi-roller leveling, ensuring a flatness of ≤0.3 mm/m, free from waves or warping. This guarantees uniform gaps during installation and a consistent, orderly overall appearance.
The black coatings of our 3003 painted aluminum sheet product are available in various performance tiers to suit different operating conditions. For standard indoor and semi-outdoor applications, we provide polyester (PE) coatings with a dry film thickness of 20–30 μm on the front side. For general outdoor use, we offer high-durability polyester (HDP) coatings, which provide 40% better aging resistance than standard PE. For harsh environments—such as coastal regions or areas with high UV exposure—we recommend PVDF (fluorocarbon) coatings, which contain ≥70% fluororesin and comply with the AAMA 2605 weathering standard. Standard black colors include RAL 9005 (Jet Black) and RAL 9011 (Graphite Black), with other black tones available for custom order. Our production utilizes a fully automated, closed-loop color-matching system, ensuring a color difference (ΔE) of ≤1.0 within the same batch, which prevents visible color variations across large-scale installations. The coatings achieve a 4B adhesion rating per ASTM D3359, ensuring the paint film remains intact—without cracking or peeling—during forming and fabrication.

Drawing on extensive industry experience, we recognize that a primary challenge with black coatings is their high light absorption; in long-term outdoor use, excessive surface temperatures can accelerate coating degradation, leading to graying or loss of gloss. BCM black aluminum sheet coating formulations incorporate high concentrations of UV absorbers and light stabilizers. In accelerated aging tests (xenon-arc lamp), our standard PE coatings show a color difference (ΔE) of ≤3.0 and a gloss retention of ≥80% after 1,000 hours, while our PVDF coatings show a color difference (ΔE) of ≤2.0 after 2,000 hours, offering an outdoor service life of over 15 years. Moreover, black surfaces are superior to lighter-colored ones in concealing minor scratches and surface dust, requiring less frequent cleaning and maintenance.
In practical applications, a 2024 exterior wall renovation project at an industrial park in Houston, USA, utilized 0.8mm-thick 3003-H14 painted aluminum sheets with a charcoal-black HDP (High-Durability Polyester) coating, supplied by BCM. Despite exposure to high summer temperatures and intense UV radiation, the panels have maintained a stable appearance with no noticeable fading or chalking. Similarly, for a roofing gutter project at a logistics park in Monterrey, Mexico, black PVDF-coated aluminum sheets (based on a 3003 alloy) were selected; these have performed reliably, effectively withstanding the local environment characterized by high temperatures and industrial emissions.
BCM maintains a standing inventory of 3003 black painted aluminum sheets in common specifications, accommodating everything from small-batch sampling to large-scale orders. We offer coil slitting and sheet leveling services, ensuring consistent delivery timelines. As a primary supplier of coated aluminum, we provide customized solutions—tailoring coating grades, dimensions, and color specifications—to deliver cost-effective black-finished aluminum products for clients in the global construction and manufacturing sectors.
